Lay Ministries

Lay people take a full and active part in the leading of our services: as servers, readers, leading the prayers, flower arrangers, welcomers and lay ministers of communion.

Serving

Servers fufill an important function in assisting with the celebration of the Eucharist. Most begin by carrying a processional candle or cross, and may later learn how to use a thurible in which incense is burnt and swung during Mass. We have a good team who minister with a sense of fun as well as dedication! If you would like to have a go, please contact the sacristan.

Readings and Prayers

Members of the congregation exercise a valuable ministry in leading prayers and reading lessons. There is a set of written prayers or some like to write their own, while the readings are printed for each service. We are always keen to hear from those who might like to contribute in either way. Contact details can be found under 'Intercessors' or 'Readers'.

Flowers

Flower arrangements add seasonal colour and beauty to the services; nature and creativity combine to glorify God and highlight the goodness of God’s creation. On the major feast days there are a multitude of arrangements around the church. If you would like to have a go at arranging then please contact the flowers coordinator.
